Heartsounds has been nominated for the Young Innovator Award, given annually by the Chicago Innovation Awards, the annual celebration of the creative spirit of the Chicago Region. This is the 8th year for the awards.
The Young Innovator Award is given to a person who is either a current or recent graduate of one of the fine local business schools in the Chicago region

HeartSounds was awarded first prize at the Chicago Biomedical Consortium Business Plan Competition on Friday, May 27th. The competition featured teams from the University of Chicago, Northwestern and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

HeartSounds was awarded the prestigious NASA Life Science Innovation Award at the Rice Business Plan Competition on Saturday night. The award was designed to recognize the team with the best technology with applications on both earth and in space.

HeartSounds made the finals of the 2008 Rice Business Plan Competition and took 6th place over all . HeartSounds was selected for the finals by winning the 3rd semi-final track against competition from five other teams in the life science arena. Some 250 teams from around the world entered and 36 were selected as semi-finalists.

HeartSounds was honored with the $15,000 Grand Prize and an automatic bid to Moot Corp in the University of Louisville's 2008 Cardinal Challenge Business Plan Competition. Additionally, congratulations to UIC's own BioRegenix whom took Second Place.

HeartSounds will compete for over $130,000 in prizes and an automatic bid to Moot Corp at the McGinnis Venture Competition presented by the Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business. The competition will be held on March 13-15, 2008.

HeartSounds, founded by Liautaud Graduate School of Business MBA students Dr. Amir Bastawrous, Michael McCoy and Matthew Norris, took first place in UIC's Concept2Venture business plan competition. The startup venture is poised to compete nationally against the nation's other top business schools.
